Our dear friend Sandy placed Star & Sequin with our friends, Ann & Mike. After Sandy passed away, they also took Avi, who has fit in well. They are cherished members of their family and we love to see how well they are doing. [click on the thumbnails to enlarge]

The Young Bond – One from the Archives

I found a picture of my baby-daddy Bond. This was taken in January of 2007. We met our friend Sandy for breakfast at a Cracker Barrel. We each drove half way [and that's an hour of driving one way] and she brought baby dog Bond. He could not have been but a year and a half but he already looked very mature.

Now, this was a dog that we had brought to our Schutzhund/Ring club when he was 10 weeks or so to be “tested”. Our coach and trainer loved him! He kept claiming that “you need to leave this dog with me”. You had to see his face when he was told that Bond was going on the road as a conformation dog! We saw him again a few months later at a tracking seminar in No. VA. He was gawky and QUITE ugly. So, imagine my surprise when he popped out of the van, a virtual dog man!

NIno’s birthday was a few days ago and I didn’t get him a gift. What do you get a Malinois that has everything? Not another toy, tug, treat, bed, travel van, fan, vcr + television, collar, website, water dish, in and outdoor run, etc, etc…….How about a baby Collie? Yeah….that’s a good idea.

Lucas is in our house now. He’s a Smooth Collie. And he’s six months old….

There is something nice about a Collie. They’re calm, they don’t startle easy, they’re very easy going, and they just seem to adapt. Lucas took all of 30 minutes to get the lay of the land, his crate, the back yard, and who to be wary of

Being only six months old, he’s kind of goofy and definitely needs some Mals to play with. Get him into some fightin’ shape, I say! HIs expression is sweet and soft and I’m starting to dig the two collie in the Mal Mad House. Raven pays him no mind but Lucas gets along with Tammy the best. Sort of. He doesn’t have her ball drive but he likes to run, romp, rumble after her. I don’t he quite knows the name of the game but he’s willing to go along for the ride. I think if Terrorist Thai were home, they would be running around like maniacs. Asia and Paris will be introduced to him slowly.

Nino is showing him the ropes. Teaching him who’s boss. “Learning” him some manners. And Lucas is cool with it I think they’ll get along just fine. . . .

Some early pics of Lucas playing….at something. At least he looks happy doing it.

And a more curious Malinois, I never met….

Unfortunately I was using a very fast lens which places A LOT of blur [depth of field] on a subject that does not have flat face [ehem...like humans].

Another dog show, with mixed results. But that’s ok because I got to relax [somewhat] and hang out with some of the prettiest dogs. Dune Collies

Yes, I know – these are definitely NOT Malinois but they are my second favorite breed: COLLIES!

This litter is from Dune Collies in central VA. Angela and I went down to hang with Gene, play with puppies and take some fotos. I unfortunately lost all the images I had taken on one CF card and we had to hurry up and take some more. We definitely tuckered them out.
