del Rio kennels – home to belgian malinois bio picture

Welcome to del Rio malinois!

The Belgian Malinois is a highly athletic, intelligent and active breed. These are traits that first drew us into the Belgian Malinois.  Once you have brought one into your life, you discover how much more there is to fall in love with.  The Malinois can bring endless joy and at times, heartache. But throughout the journey with this wonderful breed, you will realize your life is so much more enriched than it would have been without a "Maligator" by your side.

Bobby and Angela live in Frederick County near Winchester, Virginia which is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of northern Virginia, about an hour west of Washington, DC.

Their breeding program takes into consideration temperment and character, first and foremost, as well as the physical health of the parents.  The utmost concern is spent on development of the litter through the first few weeks of their lives, and training and upbringing of the Malinois once accepted into their loving homes. We stand by our puppies, not just as breeders, but as champions of the breed and friends of their new owners.

This blog will present you with the images, stories, and videos of our Malinois. At times, we will carry a story and a picture from our extended Malinois family. Feel free to contact us or comment on our site.

A good weekend by all accounts

We had a very good weekend.  Miss Vesper Lynd, Bond’s first girl, took two majors this weekend.  We over the hump and the Vesper’s show career has just started.  We are not silly enough to believe this will continue to be the way – given how shows go, we might not get another point for months.  But that’s ok.  Vesper’s first show was slightly nerve racking for her but she learned to tolerate it and that’s as much as we can hope for.

The show site was wonderful although very loud.  The Hampton Coliseum [ http://www.hampton.gov/coliseum/default.aspx] is very easy to get to with a ton of parking. Having air conditioning on a very humid day is great to have.  The clubs involved:  http://www.gloucesterkennelclub.com/ {The Gloucester Kennel Club}  and http://www.langleykennelclub.org/ {The Langley Kennel Club} were wonderful hosts. I did not see nary a problem and there were a large group of vendors at the show.  The facilities for the RVs were well organized and the open and reserved grooming areas were well situated within the building.
