del Rio kennels – home to belgian malinois bio picture

Welcome to del Rio kennels!

The Belgian Malinois is a highly athletic, intelligient and active breed. These are traits that first drew us into the Belgian Malinois.  Once you have brought one into your life, you discover how much more there is to fall in love with.  The Malinois can bring endless joy and at times, heartache. But through out the journey with this wonderful breed, you will realize your life is much more enriched than it would have been without a "Maligator" by your side.

Bobby and Angela live in Petersburg, Virginia which is located just south of Richmond, the state capitol of Virginia. Their breeding program takes into consideration the ultimate health of the parents, the development of the litter through the first few weeks of their lives, and the training and upbringing of the Malinois once accepted into their loving homes. We stand by our puppies, not just as breeders, but as champions of the breed and friends of their new owners.

This blog will present you with the images, stories, and videos of our Malinois. At times, we will carry a story and a picture from our extended Malinois family. Feel free to contact us or comment on our site.

We’re now set up for cell phones!

If you have a cell phone that can surf the internet, try coming back to delriokennels.com and view a surprise!  You will now have a faster and easier site to surf.  Through a nice little piece of code, the website is now “mobilized” and “miniaturized” for cell phones!  Of course I’m a little biased but...

What the heck? Life is blessed…….

A week ago today, I thought I would be writing a different blog post. During a normal evening with my 52 lb. Belgian Malinois female laying all over me, I felt an unusual bump on her upper thigh.  At first I thought it might be an embedded tick although it wasn’t the season.  I asked...

Interesting Pet Articles – USAToday.com

This one is about having pets in the workplace. It seems they run a similar article once to twice a year but it always makes you wish……..
This article is about dangerous pets.  I guess this was prompted by the recent chimp attack on its long time handler/owner.  Remember, its not the pet but the owners!

Lone Picture, Lone Wolf

I was able to snap ONE picture of Miss Vesper as she galloped, ran, jumped, and pranced around the ring.  Puppy cuteness at 4 months goes a long way – we were given a G3 by the benevolent judge.

Scout, dear Scout

I spotted a favorite Belgian Malinois of mine. Tribal’s Apache Scout made an appearance with a junior handler at a match in No. Virginia. He is still ever the show dog!
It was a very cold day and more than a few snow flurries were spotted.  Miss Vesper took a puppy Group 3 and...

India, aka Fuzzy Wuzzy, goes to her forever home

India, Allee Sablee Calcutta del Rio, is now with her forever owners Judy and Geoff.  India, our Tervuren, was a personal favorite of ours due to her warm and loving spirit. She always had a kiss and clack for anyone that would come to the house. The first time Judy and Geoff came over, India...

Vesper Lynd Goes A-Herdin’

A few pics of Vesper undergoing her herding instinct test this past weekend.  Vesper, named after James Bond’s first girlfriend from Casino Royale, is a keg o’ dynamite.  She’s always on the move and is more Tasmanian Devil than Malinois.

February 21, 2009 - 5:19 pm Bobby - Yes, this is the only other boy in the litter. He's a big strapping red boy. He's more like India and Cowboy is like Vesper.

February 20, 2009 - 10:03 am Julie Marco - IS this a litter mate of Cowboys? Pretty!!!

Allee Sablee Cheyenne del Rio aka Cowboy Goes Home

He didn’t go home to the range but Mr. Cheyenne aka Cowboy is headed down south with Julie and David. Although he doesn’t look very happy, Cowboy was licking, bouncing and loving on everyone BEFORE he was made to pose in the family portrait.

Champagne del Rio aka Arco

Puppy boy Arco took a herding lesson yesterday and then went on a long car ride to his forever home. His new owners Alex and Megan reported that the car ride was uneventful and that he slept most of the way.
Here are some pics of Arco, Alex and Angela walking around the ring doing the...

Warning: Nudity (of the Belgian kind)

Got some pix today of the kids while Bobby was out hunting for plumbing at Lowe’s.  Is there nothing sacred anymore??  Tami was willing to pose nude on the grooming table, got a couple butt shots of puppies, these Malinois are completely shameless.
