del Rio kennels – home to belgian malinois bio picture

Welcome to del Rio kennels!

The Belgian Malinois is a highly athletic, intelligient and active breed. These are traits that first drew us into the Belgian Malinois.  Once you have brought one into your life, you discover how much more there is to fall in love with.  The Malinois can bring endless joy and at times, heartache. But through out the journey with this wonderful breed, you will realize your life is much more enriched than it would have been without a "Maligator" by your side.

Bobby and Angela live in Petersburg, Virginia which is located just south of Richmond, the state capitol of Virginia. Their breeding program takes into consideration the ultimate health of the parents, the development of the litter through the first few weeks of their lives, and the training and upbringing of the Malinois once accepted into their loving homes. We stand by our puppies, not just as breeders, but as champions of the breed and friends of their new owners.

This blog will present you with the images, stories, and videos of our Malinois. At times, we will carry a story and a picture from our extended Malinois family. Feel free to contact us or comment on our site.

What the heck? Nino has it sooo good….

There are certain things a Belgian Malinois dog can get away with that a male husband [read man dog, or mog] cannot get away with….
1. Nino can fart in front of Angela. She does not even bat an eyelash. It might bring tears to her eyes but not a word is said.
2. ...

A Dog’s Life – Friends Remembered…..

A dog’s life is a phrase you hear on occasion. What does it really mean? That having a dog’s life is something bad, something negative? I would beg to differ and I think some of you might as well given the lives we try to provide our canines.
A dog’s life can closely resemble our own. ...

Gorgeous Sunset in Virginia

Just wanted to share a beautiful sunset here in rural Virginia.  To make it Malinois-related, the pups barked at me when I first tried to shoot it out back!  I gave up to spare the neighbors and went out front, where I wasn’t paying attention and fell off the front porch!

Bigger than giants….

Although the wee bairn puppy stage is over, I had a few left overs that I had not yet processed. The pups got their first intro to the bite sleeve and having to share with their buddy Nino. Malinois can be a bit protective of their spare sleeves….

“Don’t dump your pets” – An Article in USAToday.com

This was an article written in USAToday.com
The author has a column which is sometimes interesting, sometimes funny, and at times, I question some of what she writes. But because of this reaction, I believe she is worth the read.
A quote from the article “”She won’t hunt and she won’t breed”.  This is the declaration from...
