del Rio kennels – home to belgian malinois bio picture

Welcome to del Rio kennels!

The Belgian Malinois is a highly athletic, intelligient and active breed. These are traits that first drew us into the Belgian Malinois.  Once you have brought one into your life, you discover how much more there is to fall in love with.  The Malinois can bring endless joy and at times, heartache. But through out the journey with this wonderful breed, you will realize your life is much more enriched than it would have been without a "Maligator" by your side.

Bobby and Angela live in Petersburg, Virginia which is located just south of Richmond, the state capitol of Virginia. Their breeding program takes into consideration the ultimate health of the parents, the development of the litter through the first few weeks of their lives, and the training and upbringing of the Malinois once accepted into their loving homes. We stand by our puppies, not just as breeders, but as champions of the breed and friends of their new owners.

This blog will present you with the images, stories, and videos of our Malinois. At times, we will carry a story and a picture from our extended Malinois family. Feel free to contact us or comment on our site.

Here’s a great picture of Brooklyn, one of the B litter puppies. She favors Socks’ coloring but she looks like a cross between Thai [her sister] and Asia [her half sister]
Here is a picture of Lucas at his first show! He didn’t win but he did well

What the heck? A gift for my boy…

NIno’s birthday was a few days ago and I didn’t get him a gift. What do you get a Malinois that has everything? Not another toy, tug, treat, bed, travel van, fan, vcr + television, collar, website, water dish, in and outdoor run, etc, etc…….How about a baby Collie? Yeah….that’s a good idea.

June 28, 2008 - 5:43 am Bobby - Thanks all! He has turned out to be a really great dog. Alas, he now has begun his show career with his new handler. He's such a sweet boy that we've found that nothing bothered him - even when we took him to his first show.

June 28, 2008 - 5:35 am Kim Remmel - Oh what a beauty!! Not a mal for sure, giggle, but how much fun you all are having!!!

June 10, 2008 - 12:29 am lisa - I loved your story and pictures of your new smooth boy. He has a beautiful face. I have had collies for over 20 years and just in the last 3 have enriched my life with 2 black belgians. I'm still adjusting to the difference in energy levels. I had just 1 belgian and my collies were ready to pack up and leave home so I got another belgian to take the pressure off for them. They had a collie meeting and decided to stay. I love my belgians though and I'm glad everyone is mellowed out around here again.

June 9, 2008 - 6:47 pm wendy - Awwwww....dearly love smooth collies. What a great gift for Nino!
