del Rio kennels – home to belgian malinois bio picture

Welcome to del Rio malinois!

The Belgian Malinois is a highly athletic, intelligent and active breed. These are traits that first drew us into the Belgian Malinois.  Once you have brought one into your life, you discover how much more there is to fall in love with.  The Malinois can bring endless joy and at times, heartache. But throughout the journey with this wonderful breed, you will realize your life is so much more enriched than it would have been without a "Maligator" by your side.

Bobby and Angela live in Frederick County near Winchester, Virginia which is located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of northern Virginia, about an hour west of Washington, DC.

Their breeding program takes into consideration temperment and character, first and foremost, as well as the physical health of the parents.  The utmost concern is spent on development of the litter through the first few weeks of their lives, and training and upbringing of the Malinois once accepted into their loving homes. We stand by our puppies, not just as breeders, but as champions of the breed and friends of their new owners.

This blog will present you with the images, stories, and videos of our Malinois. At times, we will carry a story and a picture from our extended Malinois family. Feel free to contact us or comment on our site.

One more point to go – hurrah for Tammy!

Today, at the Raleigh, NC show, Tammy was presented with a very nice win from breeder Judge Susie Williamson – a Five Point Major over Specials. Tammy now just needs one more point to finish her AKC championship. Since she already has her UKC championship, we can settle down and do some fun things…..like teach...

Mr. Jackson – From the “B” Litter

Well, in this video, we find Mr. Jackson of the B litter. He was Black Boy and was deemed the “prettiest” of them all. He’s turned out very nicely and has that typical Belgian enthusiasm and penchant for body slamming!

Pics of Malinois girls – Talbot, MD

Another dog show, with mixed results. But that’s ok because I got to relax [somewhat] and hang out with some of the prettiest dogs. These are pics of puppy girl Emma, from Carol Shields’ kennel [www.cfphantom.com], Miss Mazey loved by Sharon Sparks of Rusty Road [www.rustyroadmalinois.com], and our Miss Thai. svgallery=2007-08-18_talbot

Dune Collies

Yes, I know – these are definitely NOT Malinois but they are my second favorite breed: COLLIES! This litter is from Dune Collies in central VA. Angela and I went down to hang with Gene, play with puppies and take some fotos. I unfortunately lost all the images I had taken on one CF card...

What the heck? Nino and Fundraising

During lunch today at Don Papa Grande’s Mexican Restaurant, a small child came up to our table with a plastic crate filled with tins. The tins contained scented candles. He was selling them to raise funds for school supplies. Well, the candle tins were obviously not the standard school issue type of product – I...

Thai at Puppy Class Graduation

So, another Malinois puppy goes to Puppy Class graduation and notices the fly buzzing around the class, the whirring sound of the overhead fan, each person walking into the door of the training center, and tries to chase down every other puppy during recall. Find some pictures below and more pictures at the following link

What the heck? Ring side drivers…

I’m one.  I’ll admit it. But normally I’m on the butt end of one. RING SIDE DRIVERS. You know who and what I mean.  Maybe not the moment you leave the ring and maybe not until after you take the traditional walk to the snack bar or concession stand do you hear “You know you...

What the heck? Finally a new look

I’ve finally gotten off my ass and changed the look of the site. Its a little less doggie and a bit more….well, a bit more “artsy” is what my dog friends would say. I’d say “Its about damn time”. AND it matches with the gallery. And that is a plus in my book.
